Dan McCarey’s work is primarily concerned with creating experiential data landscapes. He is interested in creating visual reflections of the datasets that are continually collected around us. McCarey exposes the process and results of these collection algorithms so we can interpret and experience them. Through an iterative process of collection, visualization and selection, the artist seeks to truthfully present patterns and connections in the underlying data.
Dan McCarey (b. 1980) is a British-American data artist currently working in Silver Spring, Maryland. He is the founder of Maptian, a data visualization and mapping studio.
